The Giving Hand Foundation is dedicated to promoting the development of dental and medical clinics which provide free or reduced fee services to needy individuals in North Carolina and selected Third World Countries. The Giving hand Foundation focuses its efforts on individuals, churches, and civic organizations that rely strongly on volunteer efforts. The Foundation's goal is that its support and guidance will make a significant impact on the establishment of long-term medical and dental clinics. The Giving Hand Foundation is dedicated to promoting the development of dental and medical clinics which provide free or reduced fee services to needy individuals in North Carolina and selected Third World Countries. The Giving Hand Foundation funds three primary areas:
- Start-up of new medical and dental clinics primarily in churches, nursing homes, orphanages, and other facilities which have a tradition of service to the needy.
- Provision of educational assistance grants to promising health care students in need of financial aid.
Scholarship Application - Funding of world mission efforts with an emphasis on providing supplies and assisting with travel and support for volunteers who wish to participate in such work.
RECENT FOUNDATION ACTIVITY
- Mission trips to Paraguay and Jamaica - 2004 and 2005
- Mission work in Mexico - 2005 (dental and building mission teams in three communities)
- WYO Dental Clinic - Ongoing and employs full-time doctor and staff
- Assistance to Katrina victims in Louisiana - 2005
- Establishing regular Saturday "clinic days" at the office of Phillips and Cuthrell, D.D.S. - These clinics raise money for needy local causes. The entire proceeds from the clinics benefit the cause. The clinics are staffed with our office staff and others who do this work on a 100% volunteer basis.
- Mission trip to Camaroon, Africa - February 2008
